By Q3 2024 Google will have removed third-party cookies from Chrome. Firefox, Safari and Brave have been blocking third-party cookies for a while, but with Chrome having a significant majority of the browser market, this may be a big change for many unprepared website owners.
Does my site use third-party cookies?
- Probably, especially if you’re using Facebook or Google for marketing and analytics
What’s the worst case scenario?
- Some functionality on your website provided by third parties, or marketing analytics, could stop working
- You might find yourself in breach of some serious privacy legislation
What can I do about it?
- Ask your web team whether you’re prepared
- Prepare for the phase-out
- Do a cookie audit
- Test for breakage
